The City of Lake Mary has numerous voluntary citizen boards which advise the City Commission and staff in decision making processes. If you are interested in serving on one of these boards, please complete the Board Appointment Application Form (Apply Online) or (Print & Sign) and return to the City Clerk's Office at City Hall, 100 N. Country Club Road, Lake Mary, FL 32795.

Most appointments are made by the City Commission during December of each year. However, from time to time there is turnover resulting in the need to make additional appointments throughout the year.

 

If you have questions, please contact the City Clerk's office at 407-585-1423. The descriptions below include the names of those currently serving on the various boards, as well as vacancies, and the law (where applicable) behind that board's existence.

Sections 30.15 and 154.25, Lake Mary Code of Ordinances, 5 members and 1 alternate member, 3-year term. Duties: Acts in an advisory capacity to the City Commission in zoning and land use matters such as rezonings, variances and conditional use requests. Site plans and subdivisions may be approved by said Board if no variances are required. Meetings: Second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, 6:00 P. M. Members serving on Planning and Zoning must be qualified electors of Lake Mary and are required to complete a financial disclosure form annually.

Sections 30.20 and 154.31, Lake Mary Code of Ordinances, 5 members and 1 alternate, 3-year term. Duties: Reviews requests for zoning variances (Chapter 154, Code of Ordinances) where special conditions and other hardships exist. The Board's decisions may be appealed to the City Commission. Meetings: First and third Wednesdays of each month, 7:00 P. M. Members serving on the Board of Adjustment must be qualified electors of Lake Mary and are required to complete a financial disclosure form annually.

Sections 30.01 through 30.07, Lake Mary Code of Ordinances, 5 members, 3-year term. Duties: Acts in an advisory capacity to City Commission in update of comprehensive plan and amendment requests. Meetings: Subject to call, 7:00 P. M. Members serving on Local Planning Agency must be qualified electors of Lake Mary and are required to complete a financial disclosure form annually.

Sections 30.30 through 30.41, Lake Mary Code of Ordinances, 7 members, 3-year terms. Duties: Conducts hearings concerning City code violations and issues orders, having the force of law, to bring a violation into compliance. Meetings: Third Tuesday of every other month at 7:00 P.M. Members serving on Code Enforcement must be a resident of Lake Mary and are required to complete a financial disclosure form annually.

Resolution No. 423, 9 citizens of the City of Lake Mary at least 4 of whom are sixty years of age or older. Up to 3 of the 9 citizens may reside within unincorporated areas of Lake Mary, 3-year terms. Duties: Provides leadership & technical assistance for planning the future for elder citizens; acts as mediator in cases of disputes with seniors; advises the Commission of the senior needs and programs. Meetings: Second Monday of each month at 4:30 P. M.

Chapter 175, Florida Statutes, 5 members, 2-year terms. Duties: To oversee the operation of the Trust Fund for the benefit of those employees. Meetings: Subject to call--but minimum of once per quarter. Members serving on the Firefighter's Pension are required to complete a financial disclosure form annually. Two members are elected by members of the Plan, the Commission appoints two residents of Lake Mary, and the four members elect a fifth member, who is not required to reside in Lake Mary.

Sections 30.50 through 30.53, Lake Mary Code of Ordinances, 7 members, 2-year term. Duties: To recommend parks development and recreational programming within the City. Acts in an advisory capacity to the City Commission on matters involving or affecting City parks and recreation. Meetings: First Monday of every other month at 6:00 P. M. Members serving on the Parks & Recreation Board must be qualified electors of Lake Mary.
