Lake Mary Police Department

Welcome to the Lake Mary Police Department website!

Lake Mary is located in beautiful Seminole County, north of Orlando; with easy access to the many attractions and activities Central Florida offers. Lake Mary is primarily a residential community, offering convenient local shopping, dining and entertainment; along with a business hub that many leading corporations call home.

The hard working women and men of the Lake Mary Police Department are dedicated to preserving the safety and well-being of those who choose our City for home, pleasure and work. Our force, currently 38 sworn officers and 16 civilian personnel strong, takes pride in the application of professional standards and practices; and the LMPD is fully accredited by the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

We believe effective policing involves partnership with our citizens. Our officers actively participate with organizations in our neighborhoods and businesses, providing safety alerts and crime prevention education. Special attention is focused on our most vulnerable citizens, seniors and youth. Our Seniors Intervention Group has earned national attention, and we continue to take extra strides to ensure the well-being of our “silver” citizens. We actively reach out to our young people through a variety of proven programs; Shop With A Cop, D.A.R.E., N.O.P.E. (Narcotics Overdose Prevention Education), and Gang Resistance Education. The LMPD also provides other services such as crime prevention programs, taking fingerprints and car seat inspections for infants. Only by working together can we sustain the quality of life we expect for all those who live in, work in and enjoy Lake Mary.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our site. If you have any questions about our department, programs offered, or have any safety or security concerns, we welcome your call at 407-585-1330.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ACCREDITATION TEAM INVITES PUBLIC COMMENTS

A team of assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) will arrive July 19th through July 21st to examine all aspects of the Lake Mary Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services. The Lake Mary Police Department has to comply with approximately 260 standards in order to receive accredited status.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team. Comments must be in writing and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CFA standards. A copy of the standards is available through Lake Mary Police Department’s Public Information Officer Zach Hudson at (407) 585-1305.

For more information regarding CFA or for persons wishing to offer written comments about Lake Mary Police Department’s ability to meet the standards of accreditation, please write: CFA, 3504 Lake Lynda Drive, Suite 380, Orlando, FL 32817, or email to info@flaccreditation.org

The Accreditation Manager for Lake Mary Police Department is Charlotte Hoenicke. Charlotte said the assessment team is composed of law enforcement practitioners from similar agencies. The assessors will review written materials; interview individuals; and visit offices and other places where compliance can be witnessed. The CFA Assessment Team Leader is Colonel Vicki Cutcliffe from Florida Department of Financial Services. Other team members are Major Don Hall from Clearwater Police Department and Sergeant Melissa Reynolds from Punta Gorda Police Department.

Once the Commission’s assessors complete their review of the agency, they report back to the full Commission, which will then decide if the agency is to receive accredited status. Lake Mary Police Department’s accreditation is for 3 years. Verification by the team that Lake Mary Police Department meets the Commission’s standards is part of a voluntary process to gain or maintain accreditation, a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.
