The Lake Mary Police Department has a traffic unit made up of a Sergeant, 2 Motorcycle Officers and a Community Service Officer. Their primary responsibilities include: responding to and investigating traffic crashes, enforcing traffic violations to include DUI’s, responding to traffic concerns as reported by the public, and addressing common areas where traffic crash statistics are high. These officers also work with traffic engineering to improve signage and other traffic control devices, i.e. red lights, turn signals, stop signs, etc., to make improvements for safer traffic flow within the city. Both motorcycle officers are trained to investigate traffic homicides.
