When can I put out my garbage/debris? No carts/debris shall be placed out for collection any earlier than 6:00 P.M. of the day prior to a scheduled pick up and no later than 6:00 A.M. on the day of collection and containers shall be removed no later than 8:00 P. What types of items can be placed in the recycle container? The following materials may be recycled:

  • Uncontaminated pasteboard (i.e., cereal boxes, empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls, soda boxes, beer boxes, tissue boxes, gift boxes, pizza boxes and shoe boxes)
  • Brown paper grocery bags (no wax, no wet strength material, no liners)
  • Corrugated cardboard (flattened and cut down to no larger than 3 ft. by 3 ft.)
  • Newspapers, supplements, magazines and catalogs
  • Printer/copier paper and junk mail
  • Milk, juice, soy & broth cartons
  • Plastic #1-7 (#'s on bottom of containers)
  • Glass bottles and jars (clear, green and brown)
  • Aluminum cans
  • Steel cans and tin household containers, such as food cans

Please empty, rinse and remove all lids before placing in bin. Labels do not need to be removed.

The following materials may NOT be recycled:

  • Plastic bags, Electronic devices
  • Mirrors, Window or auto glass
  • Light bulbs, Ceramics, porcelain
  • Coat hangers, Glass cookware
  • Cooking pots, pans, toasters
  • Garden hoses, Electrical cords
  • Christmas lights, Bottle caps
  • Styrofoam egg cartons, cups and trays

Do I need to sort my recycling? No there is no need to sort recycling materials or use plastic bags of any sort in your recycling container.

How do I dispose of large items? A separate truck picks up large items such as furniture, appliances, mattresses, etc. These items should be placed curbside Thursday if you live north of Lake Mary Blvd. and on Friday if you live south of Lake Mary Blvd. All items must be within a size and weight that can be lifted by two people. Televisions, computers and hazardous waste are not to be placed curbside.

Is there a limit to yard waste pickup? Yes. Yard waste will be collected with a limit of ten (10) bundles/bags. Tree limbs need to be tied in bundles and cut into lengths of no more than four (4) feet. Bundles, bags or containers can weigh no more than fifty (50) lbs each. Do not use Waste Management garbage/recycle carts for yard waste as they will not be picked up.
