Brief Description of City Boards
Code Enforcement Board
Sections 30.30 through 30.41, Lake Mary Code of Ordinances. 7 members, 3-year terms.
Duties: Conducts hearings concerning City Code violations and issues orders, having the force of law to bring a violation into compliance. Meetings: Third Tuesday of every other month, 7 pm.
Note: You must be a qualified elector of Lake Mary to be appointed. Financial disclosure required.
Elder Affairs Commission
Sections 30.90 - 30.93, Lake Mary Code of Ordinances. 7 members (3 of whom are sixty years of age or older), 3-year terms.
Duties: Provides leadership and technical assistance for planning the future for elder citizens; acts as mediator in cases of disputes with seniors; advises the Commission of the senior needs and programs. Meetings: Second Monday of each month at 3 pm.
Note: You must be a resident of Lake Mary to be appointed, except 3 members may reside in unincorporated Lake Mary.
Firefighter's Pension Board
Chapter 175, Florida Statutes. 5 members, 2-year terms.
Duties: Oversees the operation of the Trust Fund for the benefit of those employees. Meetings: Subject to call-but minimum of four times per year.
Note: 2 members are elected by members of the Plan. The City Commission appoints 2 residents of Lake Mary and the 4 members elect a 5th member who is not required to reside in Lake Mary. Financial disclosure required.
Historical Commission
Sections 30.80 through 30.85, Lake Mary Code of Ordinances. 7 members, 3-year terms.
Duties: To be concerned with preservation of the City's history. Meetings: Second Tuesday of every other month, 6 pm.
Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
Sections 30.50 through 30.53 and Sections 30.70 through 30.74, Lake Mary Code of Ordinances. 7 members, 2-year terms.
Duties: To recommend parks development and recreational programming within the City. Acts in an advisory capacity to the City Commission on matters involving or affecting City parks and recreation. Serves as Tree Board. Meetings: First Monday of every month at 6 pm.
Note: You must be a qualified elector of Lake Mary to be appointed.
Planning & Zoning Board
Sections 30.15 and 154.25, Lake Mary Code of Ordinances. 5 members, 3-year term.
Duties: Acts in an advisory capacity to the City Commission in zoning and land use matters such as rezonings, variances and conditional use requests. Site plans and subdivisions may be approved by said Board if no variances are required. Meetings: Second and Fourth Tuesdays of each month, 6 pm.

Chapter 185, Florida Statutes. 5 members, 2-year terms.
